- Moosehead Lake Maine Project Phase Two
Let's get started.
What's New With Me
This past week I was crazy busy. It took me two days to recover from the intense phase-one plumbing work up at Moosehead Lake, Maine. I was there from
October 22nd to the 27th.
You can go here to watch a very short overview video of all the pipes I put in with the help of the owners - mostly the wife. Her name is Cathy and she was a very quick study. It took her no time to learn how to prime and
cement PVC pipes. She also was very good at cutting pipe to very accurate lengths. I discovered she loves to clean!
I did get to play golf this past Tuesday. It was a very cold morning and the greens were like putting on a table top. Just tap the ball ever so lightly and it would go ten feet.
I had fun with my buddy Bill and his two friends Bob and Peter. It very likely was my last
game of the season playing on real grass. Soon Bill and I will be playing for two hours using the big simulator at Loudon Country Club.
If you end up reading this newsletter on Sunday, November 5th after 1 PM Eastern Time, I'll be on the road heading back up to the scenic Moosehead Lake for five days to start phase two. We should be able to finish all the PVC drain and vent lines and get in all the PEX water
lines.
Phase three will happen sometime after Thanksgiving. That will encompass installing the black iron gas lines and starting the radiant heating hePEX piping in the floors.
By then there could be a foot of snow around the house! If the carpenter has great success, all the windows and doors will be installed by the end of November. There's a huge cast-iron woodstove in the basement
that's going to be fired up. That might keep the temperature in the house at least somewhere around 40F.
As Kenny Chesney says in his hit song, "Only time will tell but it ain't talkin'."
P.S. Down at the town dock in Greenville, Maine there's a giant sea-going tug-tow boat that does tours on Moosehead Lake. It's named the Katahdin. I pondered how in the heck they got that huge boat up to the lake. Perhaps you know! It doesn't tell you on the About page of their website so maybe the boat was built up there on the lake.
