Upcoming Home Insurance Column
Soon I'll be sharing the saga of my water-damage insurance claim that happened the last week of March.
Can you believe I've not yet received all of the money from the insurance company? I'm currently in a battle with the insurance adjuster company.
While I can't prove it, I'm of the opinion that SOME insurance adjusters have a secret arrangement with the insurance carriers. The adjusters put the thumbscrews to the homeowners and any money they SAVE the insurance carriers, the
adjuster company gets a bounty or commission.
I'm going to share exactly what's been happening with me, the enormous time delays I feel are meant to WEAR DOWN the homeowner, and all of the juicy details.
I'll also be sharing all of this with the New Hampshire Insurance Commissioner. Looking back, I guess I should have shared with the insurance adjuster my
motto:
TAKE NO PRISONERS
I don't know if your insurance AGENT is like mine, but mine is WORTHLESS when it comes to claims. Once again, this is my opinion based on the fact that my agent has stepped aside and is offering no help in getting this issue resolved.
What would you say if I told you that there's a VERY GOOD chance your insurance policy is like mine and that there are FAR MORE things you're NOT COVERED for than those that you are?
You should get out your policy and read it. Cover to cover. Have a pad of paper next to you. Each time you see something in the policy you're NOT COVERED for, write it down.
Wait until you see how many things are in that list. It's shameful.
Finally, if you have a loss and can't PROVE that you had something, guess what? Think about a catastrophic house fire or tornado or ???
The insurance company will tell you to your face that you didn't own it and that they're not giving you a penny. They may say, "We're
sorry for your bad luck."
How do you PROVE you owned something? You better get it in WRITING from your insurance company as to what will suffice as proof.
I'm reaching out to insurance associations and media spokespeople in the industry. This is going to be a huge column just like the one six years ago that exposed the unethical practices happening in the
asphalt shingle industry.
Stay tuned.
