World Reserve Currency Results

Did you participate in last Sunday's survey? The one about your money and how it relates to the World Reserve Currency (WRC). It's important to realize my college degree is in geology. I don't have a Phd in economics but I've got a deep interest in the topic. Mix that with 70 trips around the sun and I can hold my own in a discussion about money, inflation, and fiat currencies.

Fifty-four percent of those that invested 30 seconds taking the survey had NO IDEA about what happens to the value of the paper money they have in their wallets, purses, or bank accounts when the US Dollar loses its WRC status.

I'll take a deeper dive into this in the coming weeks. I didn't have time this past week to create a page on my website about the topic. Here's a worst-case scenario of what can happen when your currency is NOT the WRC and you have lots of corruption in your government.

Last year Sri Lanka didn't have enough US Dollars in their central bank to pay for shipments of oil. The oil companies didn't want to exchange their valuable oil for the WORTHLESS Sri Lanka money. Big international trade deals happen using the WRC. Sri Lanka ran out of oil and gasoline and the citizens were not at all happy as you might expect and they stormed the presidential palace trying to hunt down the top guy on the island. 

Do you pay attention to international financial news? I can see why you might not with the US Dollar being king of the hill. But look at history and you'll see that almost like clockwork, the tides turn and a new WRC knocks off the existing one. It happens with a certain amount of regularity.

Read here what happens in many instances just before the switchover to a new WRC. Raging inflation kicks in for any number of reasons. Typically a government runs the money printing presses at high speed 24/7/365 putting too much money into circulation. Does that sound familiar over the past four years? Do you realize how many trillions of dollars have been coughed up into our money stream like a bad hairball?

Each dollar they print, and realize it's a fiat currency, it just dilutes the purchasing power of all the existing dollars. Think about sand on a beach. How much is sand worth?

Another issue is when the WRC starts to switch over. The countries holding it start sending it back because they no longer want them for trading purposes. The new WRC just might have a picture of a Chinese guy on it instead of Benjamin Franklin.

It might be a wise investment of time to start paying attention to this topic and realize how to protect your wealth. But what do I know? I used to eat lunch for 20+ years sitting on empty overturned drywall mud buckets.

Lithium Battery Fires

I'm currently doing research now for an upcoming column about the extreme dangers of lithium-ion rechargeable batteries.

I set up a Google Alert about the topic and it's stunning to see the news feed about all the fires. Because I'm a huge cynic, I feel that I'm not seeing ALL of the results. Sergey is stepping on my air hose to tamp down the truth about the dangers.

Here's what I can tell you so far. I reached out to a top power tool manufacturer who I communicate with on a regular basis. I asked about talking with their top battery engineer. I've heard NOTHING back.

I'm quite confident that is because the corporate attorneys have told the PR people to keep quiet about everything to do with battery fires. They probably have a stack of current lawsuits three feet high.

I hope to have great tips for you in the next two weeks. I believe quite by accident I've come up with the best solution for charging and storing the batteries in your home.

Virtual General Contracting

This past week I was hired by a woman who's rebuilding a house in the great state of Maine. She's going to be on site at the house directing the subcontractors and doing all the quality control. 

My job is to be hundreds of miles away but be in her back pocket just a phone or video call away. I'm really looking forward to this project for a host of reasons.

I was attracted to this opportunity because of what happened last summer and fall with Angel. Did you read her inspirational story? 

This is the dormer Angel built. She had no previous carpentry experience. It was a steep slate roof. Angel has three young boys and works a full-time job. She didn't make excuses.

Excuses are reason for failure.

Once I spoke with the Maine woman about her project, she reminded me of Angel. This woman had the exact same drive, skill set, and desire to ensure success.

I urge you to read Angel's story and gather up your courage to tackle a project you might not think possible. Just remember, I can be in your back pocket too!
