Are you a new subscriber? Welcome. How was your week? Mine was absolutely fantastic.

Midweek I had happen to me what probably has happened to you. I'm sure some small repair has exploded in your face erupting into an all-day affair.

For me, it was a simple rear wheel brake hose replacement on my truck. The task should have lasted an hour but ended up playing out over five hours. That's what happens when you snap off the bolt that attaches the hose to the caliper! I got the wheel back on and the lug nuts tightened just before dark.

I also think I may have exorcised the wretched deep fade and sometimes slice from my golf swing. I'll know more by Halloween after I play nine holes with my professional golf coach and have a session in his studio simulator. I'll have a full report for you in a week. Twist that upper body dummy!

Oh, and this coming week is going to be scads of fun. You'll discover why next Sunday.

Bad New Home Builder

Over the past two months I've shared with you the continuing saga of the bad builder who's constructing a new home just down the street from me. Look at this:

The carpenters have been busy the past two weeks or so and they'll be ready for the roof perhaps in less than a week.

I decided to honor the builder, that's a stretch, in one of my national columns that still runs in over 60 newspapers in the USA. Go here to read what I had to say about him. You may be humming Don Henley's Dirty Laundry song as you read it.

There are controls that allow you to pick and choose what videos to watch. Be resourceful. I don't want to hear excuses about how hard it is to use the video navigation. I don't control how it works.

Word of the Day

A few months ago I mentioned briefly that I felt soft propaganda was being spooned out to us that subscribe to Merriam-Webster's Word of the Day. I received more than a handful of email replies in agreement.

Yesterday the word was abide.

I think it might be a good idea to start keeping a spreadsheet to see what suggestive words are being served up and how they connect to current events.

How Long Do Asphalt Shingles Last?

Ask my very good friend Russ in Montrose, CA and he'll tell you every bit of fifty years. In fact, I happen to have a photo of some of his shingles in my Roofing Ripoff expose' book.

But the shingles you buy today are not the same as the ones on Russ's house.

Do It Right, Not Over!

P.S. Have you ever noticed how many TV shows foretell the future? You can read about many episodes online.

Do you think that's coincidence or are the people in charge doing routine spoiler alerts as part of a hollow code of honor? These accurate depictions of what eventually happens are littered through books, TV shows, plays, movies, etc. so often it's chilling.

Realize for the most part you're in one camp or the other. You either agree with what you see in that clip or you think it's all fantasy and the stuff conspiracy theories (CTs) are made from. The interesting thing is right now us CTrs are batting just about 1.000.

What's been happening here in the USA over the past few years is no different than what's played out over hundreds of years. 

You either believed the Earth was flat or you didn't. 

You either believed the Earth was the center of the solar system or you didn't.

You either believed that blood-letting cured illness or you didn't.

What side of history will you be on this time?
